Annual maintenance has increased by around 10.53% based on a 1.15€ budget. The maintenance increase is mainly due to the euro budget difference of 1.15€ 2009/2010 against 1.30€in 2008/09 (12% increase). RSBC running costs have been reduced in 2009 by around 2%, but we can't control the current pound/euro situation. Hopefully the pound does finally recover in 2009/2010. regards Neil.

I'm sure the sinking fund could have been used to cover at least half of this increase. Time for a new Chairman and committee.
Didn't they learn from last year !!.

It is just the committee which sets this fee though, surely Diamond have some input? Don't forget we've had to pay for all those new sunbeds, which weren't needed at this particular time. Personally when we stayed last September/October we thought standards had dropped, not as many staff on, long queues to get served etc, all this since Diamond took over. Could this just be another way of Diamond getting people to give up their set weeks so they can sell them on as points?

When you put it into perspective its a ridiculous amount to have increased in 2 years. Time you add the flights to that, you could probably have 2 x 2 week holidays somewhere for that price. I really like RSBC, but really can't warrant paying so much for a week's holiday, you can get a 10 or 11 day cruise for not much more than that these days, with no flying (hence no baggage restrictions) which includes all your food and entertainment far superior to that at RSBC (which is the same every single year - dire!), I'm not surprised people are queuing up to offload their weeks, only problem being, nobody wants them due to the high management charges.

The rise was expected,if you dont like it,!! do what i am going to do next May dont bloody pay.
I was out in march and the service was ok as it was last October, and stop blaming the sunbeds you will sit on them when you get there.!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually I won't have much choice but to sit on them as they have removed all the other ones, I don't remember being asked, as a member, whether I was in agreement to them being replaced. Why should I not pay my management fees and risk losing my original outlay and give Diamond the satisfaction of flogging it out as points and obviously upping their share of the Club?
If you thought the service was ok in October I can only presume you didn't visit the restaurant where the standard of food was poor and the service even worse.

Hi
We dont need to be asked thats what the commitee is for,!!!as i have said before the feeling around the pool last month was that the beds were great.
I have owned at RSBC since 1991 and we used to have mattreses and they were discarded without consultation.I had a converstion with Thomas in early 2007 and he said that by 2009 he would replace all the plastic sunbeds.
The Resturant was great in March due to the new owners Little Italy group, the menu was much better and the pasta and steaks were great.
Also Cheik was back in Charge which made a difference, with the fees going up again and airfares rising the club is no longer viable as a holiday, i will just let my weeks lapse in 2010.
It is surprising how many people moan at the commitee but do not want to stand as a memeber when there is a vacancy.

Excellent news that Cheik is back, I hope he has made a good recovery, it wasn't the same without him last year. Appreciate that is what the committee is for, however I sometimes wonder whether they actually act in our best interests. We are not using our week this year, however we will pay our management fees and see what happens next year, if the fees go up too much and the pound hasn't improved against the Euro we will probably think about letting our week lapse, which will be a shame as we really enjoy holidaying there.

E-mail sent to Mr David Gillam Dear David,
I would appreciate the following information:
How the 10.53% increase in Management Fees for 2009/10 has been calculated Deatails of the expected expenditure for the 2009/10 finanial year: i.e. wages, running costs etc. Hope this helps
Eric This is the reply from Mr Gillam Thanks Eric.
The increase has been calculated on a bottom up basis. i.e. we try to make our best attempt to quantify what the likely expenditure will be for the year and when we have that total we split it as per the formula in the constitution.
As regards the details of the expenditure there are 38 different cost headings and these themselves are then split down into many different sub headings. Some of these categories have increased in cost this year against last and in some areas we have been able to make savings. On the income side we have 6 different income headings which are then off set against the expected costs. The overall effect, taking into account the difference in the budgeted Exchange rate is that the costs and therefore the management fees for those paying in Sterling have increased by 10.53% whereas for our Euro Zone members their fees have actually gone down
I don†t feel it would be appropriate to go into more detail here but obviously the audited accounts are a matter of public record and were made available when the AGM notice was distributed. It may be that additional copies are still available so if you didn’t request these before and would like them now please contact Teri Jackson at DRI
Kind Regards
David

I was thinking the same thing, anothe ploy perhaps by DRI, send the invoices out late so people can't by by 1st May and then have to pay even more....or am I being cynical!

OUr management fees arrived today gone up to £409.40, for a standard 1 bed, paragraph 2 of the chairman's note clearly states that the 3 year management fee deal with Diamond has come to an end and in accordance with their rights they are looking to increase their fees. Well well, what a surprise...not. You can pay over 6 or 12 months with either a fee of 2.5% or 7.5% respectively and I guess if you chose that option you lose your early payment discount as you don't pay in one go. Personally I feel since DRI took over all we've had is increases in fees and a drop in standards, that is just my opinion but I look back fondly on Sunterra days, they at least used to know what they were doing whereas Diamond don't seem to have a clue.
